The King’s Road used to be quite literally “the King’s Road”, which was once privately owned by King Charles II as his royal route to Kew. Many houses along the road date back to the early 18th century with many a blue plaque whispering tales of its lengthy history.

In terms of shopping, we are convinced the King’s Road is the King of all shopping districts in West London for the fashionistas out there. The King’s Road is filled with high street shops such as Zara, Banana Republic, French Connection, as well as independent boutiques brimming with the latest fashions from well-known designers from the UK and around the globe. You will also find a vast array of luxury brands.

The King’s Road is also home to the massive department store, Peter Jones, which is usually known as John Lewis. John Lewis have kept its original name as a tribute to the first shop owner, Peter Rees Jones, who started a flourishing business of his own in 1877. Located just outside of Sloane Square station, it’s the perfect place to pick up some fine china to match those paisley curtains.

If shopping on a Saturday, be sure to stop by the Duke of York Square for lunch at Partridge’s Food Market just outside of the Saatchi Museum. And after lunch and a bit of modern art, try Amorino for fine Italian gelato in the summer or rich decadent flavoured hot chocolate in the winter months.
