“Ethos”, which is defined as “the spirit of culture and community” is the perfect definition for the Ethos sports centre at Imperial College London in South Kensington. The centre accepts not only Imperial students and staff, but also welcomes private memberships from local residents living in the area. If you were once an Imperial student yourself, you are even entitled to a bit of a discount!
Gym Facilities
The Energia Gym at Ethos is organised into 5 different zones, incorporating the newest Matrix equipment. The “Tone Zone” is for toning and resistance, the “Burn Zone” is for cardio workouts with sleek new Virtual Active Technology, the “Tech Zone” is for interactive cycling, the “Functional Zone” is for targeting core muscles and, lastly, the “Core Zone” is for stretching and core workouts.
Classes
No state-of-the-art gym is complete without a selection of classes for its members. Ethos provides a wide range of classes like: Body Attack, Body Combat, Body Conditioning, Body Core, Yoga, Body Pump, Body Step, Boot Camp, Boxing Fit, Commando Circuits, Fitness Circuit, Grit Cardio, High Intensity Interval Training, Impetus Running Club, Impetus Tri Cycle, Kondi, Legs, Bums & Tums, Morning Spin & Core, Open Gym, Pilates, Spin My Ride, Step & Sculpt, Weightlifting Club, Yoga and Zumba.
Extras
As Ethos is part of Imperial College London, there are a wide range of services available. The centre has a sports hall, which can be booked for: 5-a-side football, badminton, basketball, cricket, futsal, handball, indoor hockey, netball, table tennis and volleyball. There are also separate squash courts available, as well as an impressive climbing wall.
The gym also has a 25-metre swimming pool with 5 lanes, a spa, sauna and steam room. Here the centre offers family swim sessions and lessons. It also features a sports therapy room that have services available, such as: massage, physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture and chiropractic treatments.
