Knightsbridge has many extravagant shops, the familiar high street stores and is also home to the acclaimed department stores – Harrod’s and Harvey Nics. Additionally, Knightsbridge proudly houses the flagship stores for Jimmy Choo and Manola Blahnik, as well as other illustrious designers.

The beauty of the buildings, the backdrop of Hyde Park and the effervescent scent of lavish perfume and champagne bubbles, create the perfect atmosphere for shopping in one of London’s most chic districts.

Harrod’s

As impressive as its exterior, the interior of Harrod’s with its Egyptian Escalator does not cease to amaze visitors. Often tourists enter Harrod’s only to look and leave with an iconic green and gold Harrod’s shopping bag despite not buying anything. Harrod’s is presently owned by Qatar Holdings and was sold to them for £1.5 billion in 2010 by Egyptian-born, Al-Fayed.

Harrod’s has 330 different departments and 32 different restaurants just to give you an idea of how big it actually is. In addition to the usual department store items, Harrod’s has a pet shop (which once sold more exotic animals such as lions), a bank that sells gold bars and an extensive food and drink section with the finest culinary delights. One of our favourite parts of Harrod’s is probably Ladurée, which makes the original macaroon imported from Paris, France.

Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nics” is another independent luxury department store in Knightsbridge. Benjamin Harvey first opened it in 1831 and then employed James Nichols 10 year later. When Harvey died in 1850, his wife took over and joined a partnership with Nichols, thus becoming what we know today as Harvey Nichols.

Harvey Nics is known for its international luxury fashion for men and women, as well as its award winning restaurants. Be sure to stop in at the Fifth Floor bar for light snacks and signature cocktails should you need a shopping break. Or you can pick up a bottle to take home from Harvey Nics extensive wine and spirits department.
