The Millennium Bailey’s Hotel was built in 1876 by Member of Parliament, Sir James Bailey, who wanted to create a hotel for the aristocracy close to Gloucester Road tube station. Originally called “Bailey’s Hotel”, the hotel was one of London’s most popular amongst the Victorian-era elite. Now operated by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, the hotel received an extensive renovation in 1996 that retained many of the building’s original features, including a magnificent sweeping staircase in the lobby.
Accommodation
With classic British décor, traditional style wooden furniture and heritage features such as floor-to-ceiling windows, the 212 guest rooms in the Millennium Bailey’s are both spacious and comfortable. Amenities include flat screen televisions with satellite channels and pay-per-view movies, a desk with a telephone, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Wi-Fi is also available for £10 per 24-hours.
In addition to Standard Rooms, Club Rooms and Luxury Suites are available that include a complimentary breakfast and access to the Club Lounge that serves complimentary refreshments.
Restaurants and Bars
Olive’s Restaurant, situated within the Millennium Bailey’s, is open from 6.30am and serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals. Providing a taste of Italy, the restaurant offers rustic Italian cuisine in a sophisticated room that features double height ceilings and ornate plasterwork.
Olive’s Bar is open from 10.30am with a light menu consisting of British favourites, as well as an excellent selection of drinks, including Champagne and Cocktails.
Additional Facilities and Services
The hotel offers conferencing facilities through the Millennium Conference Centre, which is situated in the adjacent building and has a total of 25 rooms of various sizes.
Guests staying in the Club Rooms or Luxury Suites can access the Fitness Centre in the nearby Millennium Gloucester Hotel.
A special children’s package is available for £12.99 per child. The package, “Ask Alfred”, provides children with a teddy bear, ice cream on arrival and jelly beans, which is undoubtedly a welcome surprise for most little visitors!
There is also a Grosvenor casino within the same building - the Gloucester Casino London. Whilst the casino is unaffiliated with the hotel, it shares the same building and may be just that entertaining retreat you were looking for whilst staying at the Millennium Bailey's.
